As a Doula, I Do Not:
Free Consultation
Book Your Free, No Obligation Consultation Today. I offer this complimentary consultation and its a chance where we can meet informally and chat about what exactly a doula does. I answer any questions your or your partner may have, it also gives us a chance to get to know one another a little so you can decide if we are a good fit.
2 Prenatal Visits
If after our initial free consultation you choose me to be your doula then you will get to have 2 prenatal visits with me. During the first visit we talk about in depth what you would like your birth experience to look or be like. I would address any concerns or fears that may come up and discuss your expectations of my role as your doula. We prepare a detailed birth plan and I can direct you to any information you may need to help you make any informed decisions along the way. If you are having a hospital birth you will be well informed about what to expect while you are there.
Your 2nd prenatal visit shall take place approximately 3-4 weeks before your due date. I will prepare you for the big day and we will discuss in detail, the various ways to stay calm, relaxed and feel confident about your birth experience, so you in turn get the birth experience you hope for. I can and will provide YOU and YOUR BIRTH PARTNER several practical tips to help you through every phase of your labor. I will also review comfort measures and different positions that we can use during labor and birth. We will also discuss breastfeeding and the postpartum period.

These two visits can take place in either the comfort of your own home or somewhere else you feel comfortable meeting and discussing these topics.

Phone & Email Support
If after our initial consultation you choose me to be your doula then I am available to you for phone and email support with any questions or issues you may have throughout your pregnancy. I am on call 24/7 two weeks prior to your due date and a bit after the baby is born.
During labor
I will stay with you throughout your labor and birth of your child from the time your request my presence until about an hour or two after the baby is born to help you get settled and to assist you with breastfeeding if needed.
Baby’s first feeding Support
I will stay with you after baby is born up to 2hours to assist you with breastfeeding support for baby.
Community Referrals
I have access to various community resources and referrals. If you need extra care for something that is beyond my means then I will refer you to the proper sources. You will never be left hanging. I will follow up to be sure you got the access to resources needed.
Perform any clinical tasks
I am not medically trained nor do I have the proper training to perform any clinical tasks. Please see your doctor, OB, or midwife a medical specialist for these tasks or procedures.
Make decisions for you
Its important that this is your own birth experience so it is important that you voice your concerns and make your own decisions. I will help support you in your choices but will not make them for you. I can provide you the information needed to make your own decisions.
Speak to the staff on your behalf
I will support you but again I want you to have the voice to speak with the hospital or medical staff to voice your concerns or questions.
Postpartum follow-up visit
I will come see you and baby for a postpartum visit once your settled back in at home. You will call me when you are ready. This is when we review your birth experience and my role as your doula. I will answer any questions you have and fill in any missing pieces. If needed I can help you with breastfeeding as well. After the initial follow-up if you require more postpartum care then please see my fees and rates for extended care.
